The second presentation of the parks panel at the D23 Expo focused on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, originally announced at 2017’s D23 Expo.
Though the attraction has been under construction at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios since the Great Movie Ride closed in August 2017, no update was given about the opening date for the Florida attraction, but presumably it’s still on track for a Spring 2020 opening.
As for the Disneyland version, it won’t open in Mickey’s Toontown until 2022. It’s home will be the cleverly named El CapiTOON Theater. The queue will feature an exhibit by the Toontown Hysterical Society featuring props and costumes from the toons’ careers.
In addition to the new Disneyland concept art, Disney released new behind-the-scenes images of Imagineers working on the attraction at Hollywood Studios as well as new concept art for the front of the Chinese Theatre.
We can’t wait to finally experience this attraction next year.
