We’ve already seen concept art for Pixar Pier and know a few details about what the transformation will entail, but today as part of the 12 Days of Disney Parks event we can see photos of a brand new model of transformed pier currently housed at Disney Imagineering.
The loading area for the Incredicoaster (currently California Screamin’) will be modeled after the Parr family home in the forthcoming sequel Incredibles 2, out June 15.
Looking at the close-up of the midway area, you can see the entrance of the new theater that will live between the shops and Midway Mania. The midway games will be themed to characters from A Bug’s Life, WALL·E, and most surprisingly and excitingly, the incredible short La Luna.
Digging a bit deeper in the photos released, behind the model there are a few pieces of concept art that were not previously released. Though it’s hard to see details, it appears that a rather large likeness of Jessie from Toy Story will present near the carousel, leading one to believe that the carousel will be part of the Toy Story neighborhood near Midway Mania.
The two other pieces of concept art show what appears to be a stack stand of some kind as well as a likely counter service restaurant featuring Anger from Inside Out. In the second photo there is also a photo of a prominent Bing Bong display in the midway shops.
All of these new bits of details paint a clearer picture of what we can expect from Pixar Pier when it officially opens in summer 2018. If well executed, the Pixar characters could add some new energy to this area. Fortunately we won’t have to wait long to see the results of Imagineering’s vision.
