Following the Disney in the Stars fireworks show on January 1, Hong Kong Disneyland’s castle will begin a massive transformation that will see its rather small stature increase dramatically as it joins the ranks of other Disney parks’ grander castles.

As seen in the art above, the classic, Disneyland-style castle will be almost unrecognizable once construction is complete. The castle will feature a variety of decorative elements borrowed from Disney princesses, including Snow White’s apple, Cinderella’s coach, and Belle’s rose. And to complete the princess package, the castle will be home to a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and place to meet the princesses.

Additionally, once the transformation is complete, the castle will be home to a brand new daytime show and nighttime spectacular.

The castle transformation is part of a larger plan to expand and upgrade Hong Kong Disneyland’s offerings through 2023 including new Frozen and Marvel lands and a Moana-themed stage show in Adventureland. There’s likely more to come in this six-year plan.
