Guests who prefer to say offsite at Walt Disney World will have something to celebrate in the new year. In 2018, Disney will be extending Extra Magic Hour benefits to select Disney Springs-area hotels.

The Disney Spring Resort Area hotels include:

  • B Resort & Spa
  • Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort
  • DoubleTree Guest Suites by Hilton Orlando
  • Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace
  • Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Buena Vista
  • Holiday Inn Orlando; Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
  • Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista

A statement from Disney says that Extra Magic Hours will be offered to guests at these hotels from January 1 to December 31, 2018, so this appears to be a pilot program.

Additionally, beginning January 10, guests at these hotels who have booked a Walt Disney Travel Company package will be able to link their reservation to My Disney Experience and book FastPass+ reservations in the same 60-day window offered to onsite guests.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels currently offer these same benefits to their guests, with a few additional perks.

Guests at official Walt Disney World resort hotels will continue to have exclusive benefits, including complimentary Magic Bands, Magical Express service, and the ability to purchase a Disney dining plan package.

What do you think of this change? Does offering EMH and advance FP+ booking to guests at so many offsite hotels devalue the benefit of staying at an onsite hotel?
