There are big changes ahead for Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort

Cars Land will get a Halloween overlay for the first time, cleverly named Haul-O-Ween. Much like its Christmas overlay, for Halloween the citizens of Radiator Springs will decorate in a way appropriate to their world. In the concept art you’ll see spooky decorations made using tires, chains, traffic cones, tools and more.

It looks like Ramone’s will be celebrating Dia de Los Muertos and Luigi and Guido will turn the tire tower into a stack of jack-o-lanterns. The citizens of Radiator Springs will also be dressed up for the holiday, which should be a lot of fun.

Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will be temporarily re-themed as Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween for the season. I would hope that both of these attractions will get new soundtracks appropriate to their new names. Details were not released for an overlay of Radiator Springs Racers, but it has been rumored as well.

In addition to Cars Land, the entrance to California Adventure and Buena Vista Street will receive Halloween decorations themed to The Nightmare Before Christmas. As seen in the concept art, Oogie Boogie will dominate the entrance, and other decorations will line the streets and shops.

Old favorites Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday will return to Disneyland along with Mickey’s Halloween Party featuring the Halloween Screams fireworks show and the Frightfully Fun Parade.

Thanks to the new offerings across the esplanade this year, folks with tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party will have access to California Adventure for three hours prior to the party start time at Disneyland.

The new additions for the Halloween season this year at the Disneyland Resort are certainly exciting, and pre-party access to California Adventure makes the price of the party tickets more justifiable.

It’ll be interesting to watch Disneyland’s seasonal offerings evolve, especially at California Adventure as the resort prepares to divert more traffic to the park with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reshaping everything in a couple of years. Have you noticed how Star Wars tends to come up a lot when talking about other things happening at the Anaheim and Orlando resorts? Their openings are going to have a big effect throughout the resorts. Are you cool with the changes announced so far and the likelihood of many more to come?

Tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party are on sale now starting at $95 for adults. There are 14 parties and one of them, October 13, is already sold out. There are discounts for annual passholders, Disney Vacation Club members, and Disney Visa cardholders.

[UPDATE: The October 6 and October 27 Mickey’s Halloween Parties are now sold out as well.]
